put Dignity in the subject line.

Dignity in Care invited delegates to
The Dignity Challenge Conference
13th + 18th July 2011 - Delegates heard from experts in the field and gathered information and tools needed to register to become a Dignity Champion to help protect the interests of people who use their services.
*** You can find out about becoming a Dignity Champion here Dignity in Care website

Based on the evaluation forms returned to us, the greater majority of delegates (over 90 per cent) felt the day was worthwhile and increased their level of knowledge and understanding around Dignity in Care.
Equally, over 90 per cent, felt able to be a Dignity in Care Champion for their service area.
Generally delegates felt the opportunity to share and learn from their peers, the information imparted by the speakers, including the resources available, and the group discussions were all useful elements of the conferences. Not so useful was the lack of information about the role of the Dignity Champion, and the action-planning session was difficult because of the varied settings within which the delegates worked.
Again over 90 per cent of delegates felt that attending the conferences represented a worthwhile use of their time.
Delegate's comments below:
“A good opportunity to network and update one’s knowledge. More though is
needed on ways to monitor this initiative.”
“Auditing dignity in care would probably cover most of CQC outcomes.”
“Would have to keep in contact continually for activities and future training, local
meetings, face to face.”
”It was a good day, full of practical information I can pass on to my
staff members and implement. We can keep in touch by website.”
“Useful networking opportunities both for myself & my organisation. It also
highlighted issues from different perspectives and the action plan will be really
useful, especially if provided electronically”

The Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults
- Your statutory responsibility
A cross section of agencies enjoyed the half day conference events on 30th March 2011 in High Wycombe and on the 10th May 2011 in Aylesbury. The latest national and local practice issues regarding the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) 2005 and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) were the focus of the event.
Colleagues had the opportunity to hear a family member's perspective and were able to share issues and seek solutions to fulfilling their responsibilities.
