Connexions offers all young people aged 13 to 19 and up to 25 years for those with learning difficulties and disabilities, free impartial and confidential advice, guidance and personal development services to help them make the best decisions and choices in their life.
Young people access the Connexions service through Connexions Personal Advisers (PAs) who are based in schools, colleges and high street centres.
Connexions PAs provide free professional and confidential advice on a range of subjects from careers and education to drugs and alcohol, homelessness and teenage pregnancy. Connexions PAs are there to help find the answers to young people’s questions and problems and if they don’t have the answer themselves, they will work with other contacts and agencies to help get their questions or problems sorted.
Young people are at the heart of the service and they are directly involved and consulted in the design and development of Connexions, from the recruitment of Connexions PAs and marketing the Connexions service, to contract negotiations and mystery shopping. If young people want to get involved they will be supported, have the opportunity to gain nationally recognised awards, learn new skills which will enhance their CV and prepare them for work.
